WeCan is the Wellness branch of iCan Wellbeing Group based in Carlisle, our centre is located right next door to iCan fitness so people can enjoy the benefits of both fitness and well-being in one place. WeCan focuses on emotional & social wellbeing.

Our centre is accessible for everybody and inclusive to all. We have a full timetable of groups & activities throughout the week that would suit a variety of people! Ladies & Gents of all ages!

WeCan is a safe and supportive environment in which people are encouraged to aspire to be the happiest & healthiest version of themselves. We lead from lived experience & recognise that there are many factors that contribute to our overall health & wellbeing.

Our vision is to empower each member of our WeCan community to create and achieve their own goals and help them on their journey towards improved wellbeing.

We do this by encouraging participation in Peer Support Groups & activities which aim to support an increase in emotional wellbeing & decreased social isolation.   The power of our community is within the group participation and both the giving & receiving of support to each other.

We encourage open & honest conversations which enable us to share our own experiences with each other in a safe and supportive environment. All members of staff are lived experience mentors and fully participate in groups alongside our community.

Our lived experience mentor Annie would love you to join her in some short 5 minute meditations. Just click the pictures below to listen and enjoy.

We have a Podcast

You can listen to a variety of conversations via our podcast which features local lived experience experts and people just like you sharing real life stories about wellbeing.

New for 2024

ART FOR WELLBEING

A group for those who want to try art activities and learn new skills for the benefit of their wellbeing.

The group is suitable for all ages and abilities and we meet once every 2 weeks in WeCan. Hosted by lived experience mentor Amanda Mudge.

Every week we try a different art medium to get your creative energy and mind working. There’s no pressure to produce the next best selling piece of art, it’s just for you to relax, enjoy and try something new.

SOCIAL ACTIVITIES FOR DEMENTIA

We provide a group session for people living with mild to moderate dementia. People can enjoy a range of different social activities to get communication flowing, cognitive stimulation and friendly support.

Activities include crafts, quizzes, gardening, reminiscence activities, music, bingo and much more.

To support loved ones of those living with Dementia we offer a once a month lived experience coffee morning for carers and family. This is an informal chat for loved ones to come together to talk over their worries, fears or even just talk about the weather.

For more information contact JadeC@icanwellbeing.co.uk or call 01228 819101- option 2

MINDFULNESS MEDITATION

Brand new to WeCan for 2024 we offer weekly meditation sessions in the comfort of our WeCan studio. The sessions aims to relax your body and mind and follow a journey of self discovery, calming sensations or mindful bliss.

The sessions are free and open to all, although some eligibility criteria does apply for the comfort and safety of our members.

WECAN WALKING GROUP

Our longstanding popular weekly walking group has now been secured as a permanent fixture on our timetable for 2024 thanks to support from The NHS Green Social Prescribing Fund and Cumberland Council

This group is a weekly peer support group open members from across our community and a great group for new people to come to to try out WeCan and meet new people. It increases emotional and social wellbeing whilst also making use of our local out door beauty spots for gentle exercise & fresh air.

WRITING FOR WELLBEING

A 6 week wellbeing programme for  adults who want to express their feelings through writing.

We follow a guided plan of different topics to write about each week, each expressing a different expression or feeling. You can write in whatever style you like on a computer, on a notepad or even on a white board.

If the group feel comfortable we share our writing during the session, but you dont have to if sharing isn’t for you.

The sessions are free thanks to funding from Awards4all.

Each group is limited to 6 participants per session for the purpose of forming a comfortable peer support group for those that may feel anxious in large groups.
